ACNE Your skin is your friend. You like your skin. Your skin likes you

ACNE

Your skin is your friend.
You like your skin.
Your skin likes you.
Acne is the common cause of spots. Most people with acne are aged between 12 and 25 but some older and younger people are affected.
Causes for acne
Small sebaceous glands lie just under the skin surface. These glands make the oil (sebum) that keeps the skin supple and smooth. Tiny holes (pores) on the skin allow the sebum to come on to the skin surface. Hairs also grow through these pores. During the teenage years, you make much more sebum than when you were a child. This is due to the hormonal changes of puberty which stimulate the sebaceous glands.
Types of acne
Ø Mild-to-moderate acne
Ø Blackheads
Ø Whiteheads and small pimples

HEALTH BENEFITS OF COCONUT

HEALTH BENEFITS OF COCONUT

“What you eat impacts your health the most, much more than any other thing”
Consuming any coconut product leads to a positive effect on weight management. It speeds up metabolism and provides instant energy.
Unlike other energy sources, coconut has fewer calories than other fats. In fact, it is most likely to burn up than being stored in the body as fat.
Coconut has good fats. It contains medium chain fatty acids. Long chain fatty acids are responsible for high cholesterol. But medium chain fatty acids are not. Instead, they help to lower the chances of atherosclerosis and other heart diseases. Also among the coconut's several different properties, it contains lauric acid. Lauric acid is found in human breast milk.
Carbohydrates are of two types, digestible (soluble) and non-digestible (insoluble). Soluble carbohydrates do not leave the body and get stored as fats. Insoluble carbohydrates do the opposite. Coconuts contain insoluble carbohydrates.
As the body cannot digest the fibre, it cannot retain any calories and does not affect blood sugar levels. Since coconuts contain insoluble fibres, they do not raise glucose levels.
Coconuts thus have low glycemic index. Sweet cravings are lessened and insulin secretion is improved. Blood sugar has better utilization. Coconut lowers any growth in blood sugar, thus reducing cravings.
Coconut oil is beneficial to fight tooth decay. It fights the bacteria and the mouth bugs that give rise to dental caries.
Brain disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's and strokes can be prevented.
It has no trans-fat it is gluten free. Also, the flour made from dried, powdered coconut flesh can even be used in baking. It is hypoallergenic.
Coconut water is more nutritious than whole milk. It’s crammed with Natural Sugars, Salts, and Vitamins to block out fatigue.
Coconut water could potentially be the greatest energy drink in the world, to top it off, it’s all-natural.
Coconut water contains more potassium than the majority of energy drinks. The chloride it holds is at 118g, and its natural sugars extent to about 5mg.
Most importantly, coconut water contains less sodium than any other energy drink.
Because of its high concentration of fiber, it aids in the prevention of indigestion and reduces the occurrence of acid reflux.
In some instances, it is recommended that coconut water be consumed at the start of each day to foster the balance of these electrolytes.
Coconut water contains five essential electrolytes that are present in the human body. These include: calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium and sodium. Because of its unique composition, coconut water can be enjoyed by individuals with varying medical conditions.

SNORING Snorting or grunting sound while asleep

SNORING

Snorting or grunting sound while asleep

*    Just about everyone snores occasionally, but if snoring happens frequently it can affect the quantity and quality of your sleep and that of your family members and roommates.

*    Snoring can lead to poor sleep and daytime fatigue, irritability, and increased health problems.

*    If your snoring keeps your partner awake, it can also create major relationship problems.

*    Snoring happens when you can't move air freely through your nose and throat during sleep.

*    This makes the surrounding tissues vibrate, which produces the familiar snoring sound.
*    People who snore often have too much throat and nasal tissue or “floppy” tissue that is more prone to vibrate.

*    The position of your tongue can also get in the way of smooth breathing.

Different ways you sleep and snore.

v  Closed-mouth snoring may indicate a problem with your tongue.

v  Open-mouth snoring may be related to the tissues in your throat.

v  Snoring when sleeping on your back is probably mild snoring-improved sleep habits and lifestyle changes.

v  Snoring in all sleep positions can mean your snoring is more severe and may require a treatment.

Gargle with a peppermint mouthwash:

This is especially effective if your snoring is a temporary condition caused by a head cold or an allergy. To mix up the herbal gargle, add one drop of peppermint oil to a glass of cold water. (But only gargle’do not swallow.)

Reduce bedroom allergens (dust, pet dander, and mold) to alleviate nasal stuffiness by vacuuming floors and drapes. Change sheets and pillowcases often.

Don’t eat a heavy meal or drink alcoholic beverages within three hours of turning in. Both can cause your throat muscles to relax more than normal.

Quit smoking. Tobacco smoke irritates mucous membranes, so your throat swells, narrowing the airway. Smokers also have more problems with nasal congestion.

Olive Oil and Honey

Combine one-half teaspoon each of olive oil and honey. Consume it daily before going to bed

Steam

Nasal congestion is one of the main reasons behind snoring. One of the best solutions for reducing congestion
Cardamom
Add one-half teaspoon of cardamom powder to a glass of warm water.Drink it 30 minutes before going to bed.

Turmeric

Being a powerful antiseptic and antibiotic agent, turmeric can treat inflammation and help reduce heavy snoring. Turmeric should be used with milk to treat snoring
Keep bedroom air moist
Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat, so if swollen nasal tissues are the problem, a humidifier may help.

Change your sleeping position

Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing and encourage your tongue and jaw to move forward.

Try an anti-snoring mouth appliance

These devices often resemble an athlete’s mouth guard and help open your airway by bringing your lower jaw and/or your tongue forward during sleep.

*Contact your doctor if you’re a loud snorer

ADVANTAGES OF HERBAL MEDICINE

ADVANTAGES OF HERBAL MEDICINE

Herbal medicine have long history of use and better patient tolerance as well as acceptance.

Medicinal plants have a renewable source, which is our only hope for sustainable supplies of cheaper medicines for the world growing population.
Availability of medicinal plants is not a problem especially in developing countries like India having rich agro-climatic, cultural and ethnic biodiversity.

The cultivation and processing of medicinal herbs and herbal products is environmental friendly

Prolong and apparently uneventful use of herbal medicines may offer testimony of their safety and efficacy.

Throughout the world, herbal medicine has provided many of the most potent medicines to the vast arsenal of drugs available to modern medical science, both in crude form and as a pure chemical upon which modern medicines are structured.

Plants are a tremendous source for the discovery of new products of medicinal value for drug development.

Today several distinct chemicals derived from plants are important drugs currently used in one or more countries in the world.

During the past decade, traditional systems of medicine have become a topic of global importance.

Current estimates suggest that, in many developing countries, a large proportion of the population relies heavily on traditional practitioners and medicinal plants to meet primary health care needs.

Although modern medicine may be available in these countries, herbal medicines (phytomedicines) have often maintained popularity for historical and cultural reasons.

Concurrently, many people in developed countries have begun to turn to alternative or complementary therapies, including medicinal herbs.
